That's why we've positioned our Respiratory Health Centre clinics across the country to conveniently reach people in need of care for chronic lung diseases. Interstitial lung diseases (ILD) are a group of lung conditions that have in common the build-up of scar tissue in the lungs (pulmonary fibrosis), which is thought to be caused by injury and inflammation. The most common symptoms of ILD are shortness of breath on exertion and dry cough. The clinicians and researchers of the ILD Programme are nationally and internationally known and supported by several distinguished sources such as the National Institutes of Health and the American Lung Association.
Need more information about this building and its related enterprises? A new research programme at the University of Louisville will focus on developing better methods for studying lung inflammation and will enable new research into the causes and potential therapies for lung diseases that affect millions of Americans. The use of stem cells to treat lung diseases has great appeal. As we learn more about the therapeutic potential of stem cells and other cell therapies in clinical trials for non-pulmonary diseases, we hope to move towards greater consideration of these approaches in lung diseases. More generally, the American Lung Association and other organisations recommend against the use of stem cells for lung disease at this time.
The Post also interviewed 14 former employees of the Lung Health Institute, including marketers, doctors, nurses and patient coordinators, whose job it is to talk to potential customers. This left me somewhat perplexed by the marketing verbiage of the Lung Health Institute, including the statement quoted above. Late last year, the Lung Health Institute was acquired by Medovex, a medical technology products company run by former Laser Spine executive William "Bill Horne". The programme will use CII's established research and existing partnerships to develop improved methods of studying diseased lungs and to explore new treatments for inflammatory lung disease.
Rivero and 34 other former patients have filed a lawsuit accusing the Lung Health Institute of deceptive marketing practices. In court, the Lung Health Institute has denied the allegations of deceptive and unfair practices. Even in a booming industry long denounced by medical experts, the Lung Health Institute has been singled out for aggressive marketing and unproven claims. Donations to the American Lung Association fund research that will one day find a cure for lung cancer.
When contacted by phone, Behfar said he was unaware that patients had accused the Lung Health Institute of misleading marketing and sued the company with which it partners. This post is a review and fact check of the biomedical offerings in this area, including especially those of the Lung Health Institute. Some sites claim that intravenous injections of forms of PRP as in the case of the Lung Health Institute or stem cells can help respiratory problems, while others promote what might generally be called inhalation (or airway infusion) of stem cells or at least materials supposedly containing stem cells.
